Top 10 Rock Songs List

#1 Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin)

It's a musical masterpiece and the solo is awesome. Each part played in the song has a unique flavor, complicated amazing drum rhythms, lightning struck guitar, masterful playing and soul searching passionate vocals.

#2 Bohemian rhapsody (Queen)

This is a song with absolutely no chorus, an operatic section, a ballad in the beginning and hard rock in the end. It pushed the boundaries of music to its fullest and Freddie did things never seen before. By far one of the greatest rock songs of all time.

#3 Comfortably numb (Pink Floyd)

Wonderful and inspiring lyrics, a haunting mix of Water's and Gilmour's vocals, beautiful keyboard, organ parts from Richard Wright, lovely mellow drums from Nick Mason and all of it topped off by two extraordinary solos from David Gilmour. This song is the ultimate psychedelic rock classic.

#4 Smells like teen spirit (Nirvana)

Kurt Cobain is a music God. This song truly brings together a community of people, the outburst of grunge, the riff is original, vocals are loud and strong, and it definitely makes my top 10 list.

#5 Paranoid (Black Sabbath)

It is a timeless classic subjective to the spontaneous product of the human mind. Did you know that Paranoid was created as a 'filler' by the band?

#6 Yellow ledbetter (Pearl Jam)

What I find most intriguing about this song is how it strikes a perfect balance of pushing an idea while still letting the listener use their imagination. The ambiguous lyrics make it so that an idea is not being forced on the listener, but points you in the direction to feel a certain way about war and it’s repercussions. The lyrics, music, and background of this song give it a quality that I think is truly hard to come across anywhere else and Eddie Vedder is a fucking genius.

#7 November rain (Guns n Roses)

It rarely happens that such a perfectly, balanced song comes along. It makes you forget yourself and takes you to a whole different world. W. Axl Rose wrote it about Erin Everly after they broke up. If you listen to this song, you'll realise that he loved her just as much as any human being could ever love anything.

#8 Yesterday (The Beatles)

It's maybe not classic rock, but this song has beautiful melodies and it would be unjust if this band didn't make it to my list.

#9 Free bird (Lynyrd Skynyrd)

If you listen closely you can here two distinct guitars from the beginning and about midway through they split into their own tracks. Absurd, breathtaking and unbelievable. This song is just perfect.

#10 Fade to black (Metallica)

The band wrote this song after their equipment was stolen in early '84 and they had to start all over again. More specifically, James Hetfield wrote the lyrics in response to one of his amps being stolen. Not only was this amp his favorite, but it was also the first amp he ever owned so it had a lot of sentimental value to him. The song is about losing everything and wondering if it is worth going on.

Let me know in the comments section your favorite classic rock song of all time.
